Area Support Group

We are here to provide you with support as you deal with the many issues that you may confront as you cope with the realities of having a family member diagnosed with a mental illness. In the support group meetings, you will meet others who have encountered the same feelings and emotions, the same experiences and frustrations with illness and support services, and the same daily life experiences within the family situation. Sharing those experiences and gaining additional perspectives on how to keep yourself mentally and physically healthy will leave you better equipped to deal with the complex situations caused by a mental illness. We learn much from each other.

In the family support group you will have the opportunity to share your fears, insecurities, successes, and approaches to problems. Your problems will not be solved at a single meeting, but you will not be alone and will be able to get continued support. You are encouraged to attend the regular support group meetings as often and for as long as you need. Confidentiality will be respected - what is said in the group stays in the group. We operate by NAMI's Principles of Support and support is coordinated with the emotional stages presented in Family to Family Education Class. We also occasionally have guest speakers as the group requests.
